Our Team
Kia ora, whānau! We’re Nikki and Brandon Fonoimoana
The heart and soul behind CyberNix.
I’m Nikki, the founder of CyberNix, and this journey began as a simple passion project to turn pixels into possibilities for the youth here in Aotearoa. Originally from the USA, I’ve always had a love for gaming and digital creativity. Back in high school, I was competing in eSports tournaments and gaming competitions — way before it became the global sensation it is today. Gaming taught me teamwork, resilience, and confidence. So, when I moved to New Zealand 12 years later, I couldn’t help but wonder: “Where’s the eSports scene here?”
To my surprise, I realized that while there was so much potential, New Zealand hadn’t yet embraced eSports and digital education as powerful tools for growth. The stigma around gaming and digital spaces felt outdated — as if gaming was just a distraction rather than an opportunity. So, I decided it was time to change the narrative and show that gaming can be an incredible tool for learning, connection, and creativity. And that’s how CyberNix was born!
This dream wouldn’t be possible without my incredible husband, Brandon. Brandon has been the quiet force behind every success — the one who’s supported me through every late-night brainstorm, every early morning setup, and every roadblock we’ve pushed past together. His unwavering belief in CyberNix has helped make it what it is today.
Together, we’ve poured our hearts (and yes, plenty of blood, sweat, and tears) into CyberNix because we believe everyone in New Zealand deserves to thrive in the digital world — no matter where they come from or what resources they have. Whether we’re running free Digital Discovery Days at local libraries, helping kids compete in their first eSports tournaments, or teaching parents how to navigate the online world with their tamariki, everything we do is about bridging the digital divide.
Our mission is simple:
To empower youth to turn their passion for gaming into real-world skills and opportunities.
To educate parents and whānau about digital literacy and online safety.
To create spaces where everyone feels welcome, whether they’re gamers, content creators, or simply curious.
CyberNix isn’t just a business — it’s our way of giving back and showing that gaming and digital creativity can build futures, not just pass the time.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Whether you’ve joined one of our school programs, celebrated a gaming-themed birthday with us, or supported us from afar, you’re helping us build something truly special.
We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see how many more lives we can impact in 2025 and beyond. Let’s continue to turn pixels into possibilities — together!
